Indy Fuel News Release
INDIANAPOLIS - The Indy Fuel staged a furious late-game comeback but fell short by a 5-3 count against the Missouri Mavericks on Tuesday night at Indiana Farmers Coliseum.
Trailing 4-1 in the third period, Adam Lapsansky gave the Fuel a spark when he banked a shot in from the left side off goaltender Parker Milner (30 saves) at 16:18 to draw Indy within two goals.
The Fuel followed that up by pulling Shane Owen (26 saves) for the extra attacker, which led to Ben Marshall's goal on a shot from the left point with 1:06 remaining and putting Indy within a goal at 4-3.
Unfortunately for the Fuel, Matt Finn's clear skidded down the ice on edge and curved into the empty net for the 5-3 final with under a minute to play.
In the second period, the Fuel had two close calls ruled no goal on each occasion before Daniel Ciampini scored a five-on-three power play goal at 7:32 from Nick Petrecki and Alex Lavoie to tie the game at 1-1. Missouri followed that with goals from Tyler Barnes, Andrew Courtney and Rocco Carzo to stretch the lead to 4-1 before the Fuel comeback began.
Indy will now head to Cincinnati to take on the Cyclones on Saturday night at 7:35 pm. The Morellis Cleaners Indy Fuel pregame show starts 15 minutes prior to puck drop on CBS Sports 1430.
