Alaska Aces News Release

ANCHORAGE, ALASKA -The Alaska Aces have announced that defenseman Zach Sarig will join the club off waivers from the Atlanta Gladiators.

Aces President of Hockey Operations and Head Coach Rob Murray made the announcement Tuesday.

The 6-3, 215 pound defenseman was signed out of NCAA Division 3 Plymouth State University by the Gwinnett Gladiators last season. He played 4 seasons and 95 games, scoring 25 goals with 55 assists for 80 points and 193 penalty minutes. The Wyomissing, PA native also played 11 games for the Gwinnett Gladiators last season, scoring 1 goal with 6 penalty minutes.

"Zach is a big, tough right-handed shot who is an excellent stay-at-home defenseman," said Murray. "He will definitely help us out in a position where we're a little thin".

The Aces lost defenseman Mitch Jones to a season-ending leg injury in Rapid City, and earlier lost defenseman Daniel Johnston to an upper-body injury. Defenseman William Wrenn has also missed the last 2 games with an upper-body injury and could return to the club Friday.

Alaska begins a 3 game series Wednesday at Colorado.

The Aces return home to face Ft. Wayne Wednesday, March 9.

For tickets, stop by the Aces ticket office at 15th and Gambell Monday through Friday 9am to 5pm or go online at www.alaskaaces.com.
