CHECKING THE RIVALRY
The Mavericks are facing the Beast tonight for the first of two meetings this season and the first of two to be played at the Powerade Centre. Missouri has a 4-2-1 all-time ECHL record against Brampton, including a 1-0-1 record on the road. Last season the Mavericks and Beast did not meet, and you have to go back to April 11, 2015 to find the last time these teams squared off against each other. That 1-0 overtime win by the Beast was the last time the Mavericks were shut out prior to the 4-0 loss in Allen on October 16. Brampton has been idle nearly a week following a 6-5 OT loss in Toledo last Saturday while the Mavericks were dealt a 2-1 setback in Quad City on Wednesday - their most recent action.
HALF WAY THERE
The Mavericks have put together half of the equation when it comes to power play success. Through five games Missouri leads the ECHL in power play chances generated with 29. On the flip side of the coin, though, the Mavericks are one of seven teams yet to score a power play goal this season. The Mavericks could look to Andrew Courtney for a boost - he was second in the league with 12 PPG last season.
