South Carolina Stingrays News Release

ESTERO, Fla. - Olivier Archambault scored twice including the game-winning goal in overtime as the South Carolina Stingrays (1-2-1-0) handed the Florida Everblades (3-0-1-0) their first loss of the season 2-1 in dramatic fashion on Friday night at Germain Arena.

Both of Archambault's goals came on the man-advantage, as the forward has now scored three straight tallies for South Carolina. Goaltender Adam Carlson made 31 saves in his second start of the year to earn his first professional victory in between the pipes.

The victory was also the first for Stingrays' head coach Ryan Warsofsky, who was promoted during the summer.

For the third consecutive game, the Rays and their opponent held each other scoreless for the first 20 minutes. Archambault broke the stalemate at 13:04 of the middle frame, scoring his second goal of the season with assists from forwards Kelly Zajac and John Parker.

Zajac put a perfect pass on the stick of his linemate, which only needed to be re-directed into an open net to make it 1-0.

But Florida responded just 49 seconds later to re-tie the game at 1-1 on a goal by forward Brendan O'Donnell at 13:53 of the second period.

Another scoreless period in the third forced an overtime session and the Stingrays found themselves with a man-advantage after a late high-sticking penalty to John McCarron.

With the power play, Domenic Menardo attempted a shot from the top of the zone that broke his stick, but the puck went right to Archambault in front of the net and he didn't miss, pulling the puck to the forehand for the game-winner.

Zajac was also given an assist on the play, his second helper of the night. Archambault now leads the team with three goals on the season, all of which have come on the power play.

The Stingrays were outshot 32-20 in the game, but the difference came on special teams. South Carolina finished 2-for-4 on the power play while holding Florida scoreless, 0-for-3.

Everblades' goaltender Daniel Altshuller took the loss, making 18 saves in the contest.

The Rays will wrap up the team's three-game road trip through the Sunshine State Saturday night, finishing a two-game series with the Everblades at 7:00 p.m. South Carolina is back at the North Charleston Coliseum Tuesday night to attempt some revenge on the Solar Bears at 7:05 p.m.
