London Rippers News Release

LONDON, ONTARIO - Matt Schimpf (2-0) threw the first complete game shut-out in London Rippers (8-10) history, lifting his club to a 7-0 win and a sweep over the Normal CornBelters.

Schimpf had a no-hitter through 5.2 innings and allowed only one hit and a walk in the game, helping London to their fifth straight win.

The Rippers started early again tonight, putting up five runs in the bottom of the 1st .

An error by Normal first baseman, Jordan Stouffer with two outs kept the inning alive and the next batter, David Christensen made the CornBelters pay by launching his 4th homer of the season, putting London ahead, 2-0.

Mark Samuelson followed with a single, Stephen Cardullo doubled and JC Paquin snuck his first home run around the right field foul pole, bringing London's lead to 5-0.

That was all the scoring Schimpf needed, as he only allowed four outs to leave the infield.

"It was great. The offense put up 5 runs in the 1st and that takes a lot of weight off my shoulders."Schimpf said, "Our team is on a roll right now, so everyone is contributing".

The Rippers homestand continues tomorrow night with the 2011 Frontier League Champion, Joliet Slammers coming in for a weekend series.

Friday and Saturday's games will start at 7pm. Sunday gets underway at 1pm. The Beer Garden WILL be open throughout the weekend.

Justin Mazur will get the start tomorrow night for London, facing Joliet's Eric Binder.
