River City Rascals News Release

Florence, Ky. - River City avoided a sweep and fourth-straight loss in Florence by scoring four times in the ninth to erase a two-run deficit for an 8-6 win Thursday night.

River City struck first in the initial inning to take their first lead of the series. Eric Williams doubled to start the game before Jeremy Synan hit his second homerun this season to give the Rascals (13-5) a 2-0 lead.

Chandler Barnard started his first game for River City tonight and ran into trouble in the second, allowing three consecutive hits that led to three runs and a Florence 3-2 lead after two.

Florence (8-9) led off the fourth with a homerun but the Rascals countered with Zach Deutscher's first homerun as a pro to keep it a two-run game in the top of the sixth. The Freedom would launch back-to-back homers in the bottom of the frame to take a 6-3 lead, but River City battled back in the seventh with a single run but left the bases loaded still down 6-4.

River City plated four runs on just one hit, drawing five walks in the ninth inning, but it was a dropped fly to left field that plated three runs after Williams drew a bases loaded walk to make it a one-run game and the Rascals escaped Florence with an 8-6 win.

River City is back in action tomorrow night against the Schaumburg Boomers with first pitch set for 7:05 CT. You can catch all the live action on Westplex News-Talk 1280 AM and online at westplexnewstalk.com.
