Matt Hearn Has Three Hits & Scores Two Runs in Goats Loss

Manchester, NH - Yard Goats outfielder Matt Hearn had three hits and scored two runs in Hartford's 8-2 loss to the New Hampshire Fisher Cats on Tuesday night at Delta Dental Stadium in Manchester, New Hampshire. It was the first game of a two-city 12-game road trip. Hearn scored the first two runs of the game, giving the Yard Goats a 2-0 lead after four innings, before the Fisher Cats came back with three runs in the fifth, two in the seventh and three more in the eighth. New Hampshire infielder Kevin Vicuna drove in three runs for the Fisher Cats.

The Yard Goats scored the first run of the game on a sacrifice fly by Coco Montes in the second inning and took a 2-0 lead in the fourth inning on a double by Jose Gomez.

However, the Fisher Cats scored three times in the bottom of the sixth fifth inning to take the lead. Kevin Vicuna cracked a two-run single, tying the game with both Samad Taylor and Chavez Young scoring. Vicuna scored the go-ahead run, as Nick Podkul got caught in a run down while attempting to steal second base, giving New Hampshire a 3-2 lead.

The Fisher Cats added two runs on a two-run homer by Podkul in the seventh inning and three runs in the eighth inning on a sacrifice fly, RBI single by LJ Talley and RBI single by Vicuna.

The Yard Goats continue the six-game series against the Fisher Cats on Wednesday afternoon (12:05) in Manchester, New Hampshire against the Fisher Cats. The game will be broadcast on AM 1410 WPOP and FM 100.9 FM and newsradio1410.iheart.com and the video stream available on MiLB.TV.
