Atlanta United FC News Release
ATLANTA - Atlanta United returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 6 when it hosts New England Revolution at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Atlanta enters the match in first place in the Supporters' Shield race (19-6-6, 63 points) while New England sits in eighth place (8-11-11, 35 points). The match, presented by Publix, is scheduled to kick-off at 3:30 p.m. EST and will be nationally televised on Univision.
Atlanta fell 2-0 to New York Red Bulls on Sept. 30 at Red Bull Arena. Daniel Royer converted a first half-penalty and Tim Parker added a second goal in the 75th minute to seal the win for New York and trim Atlanta's lead at the top of the league standings to one point heading into the final three matches of the season. Atlanta needs four points to secure a bid in the 2019 CONCACAF Champions League as the American team with the highest point total over the 2017 and 2018 MLS regular seasons.
New England enters the match five points below the playoff line in the Eastern Conference. The Revolution had a four-game unbeaten streak snapped Sept. 30 with a 4-1 loss to Toronto FC at BMO Field, as they gave up four unanswered goals after Cristian Penilla opened the scoring.
