Marzinotto to Lead Matrix to Playoffs

January 24, 2006 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Montreal Royal News Release

Montreal, Canada. Assistant Coach Nevio Marzinotto has been named head coach of the ABA Montreal Matrix replacing Ed Jones. Montreal owners Senena and Melvin Locker-Coles made the change as they prepare the team for the playoff run.

"It is a difficult position for me because I have a lot of respect for Ed. His dedication to basketball and to the team was unmatched," said Marzinotto. "However, we still have big games coming up that we need to prepare for," he added.

Jones posted a 4-4 record as Matrix head coach. He will be present at practice to meet the players and the media. The team will practice today, Wednesday and Thursday at the Pierre-Charbonneau Centre from 2-4pm. Then, the Matrix will play three games in as many days over the weekend. Montreal will first host Baltimore at the Pierre-Charbonneau Centre on Friday, Jan 27 before traveling to Long Island on Saturday and then back to Montreal on Sunday, Jan 29 to play the Boston Frenzy at 2pm.
