Talons Guard Signs With D-League
January 24, 2006 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Gallup Outlaws News Release
Gallup, NM. The ABA Gallup Talons announced that guard Brandon Mason has signed with the NBA Developmental League. Mason, a former standout at New Mexico State, signed with the Albuquerque Thunderbirds. "I feel Brandon's athleticism will make him a standout in that league; he competes well and has the mentality that no one can stop him when he has the ball," said Talons coach Clayton Shields. "The mentality Mason went into games with has helped him over the coarse of this seas as Mason was named MVP of the Irish Pro league along with leading his team to the championship."
Mason was the Talons second leading scorer on the season and had seven gaves in which he scored 20 plus points. It was his court leadership that stood out as Mason used his basketball experience and knowledge to better his teammates on and off the court. "He is a great team player who watches out for his teammates and tries to make them better and get them involved in the game," said Shields. "I talked to Brandon and gave him some advice about what to expect and what he needs to do - and I feel he is capable and ready for the challenges he will face. He was headed for the ABA All-Star team - but we wish him well."
The Talons will move forward as the team still has a deep and talented roster with Will Funn, Bernard McIntosh, Alvin Broussard and Louis Richardson anchoring the lineup. For more information, email Steven Kolb at kolbsteven18@aol.com or visit www.abalive.com.
