Gallup extends win streak to four

Gallup Outlaws News Release

Gallup, NM. The loss of Brandon Mason to the NBDL was quickly forgotten Monday night by the fabulous performance of Alvin Broussard. Broussard, who played his fifth game with the Talons, put on a shooting display as he went for 39 points on the night including converting six three-point attems on the way to a Talon 127-113 win over the Tijuana Dragons.

The win came a little more difficult than the score showed as the Dragons at one point built a nine point lead on the Talons late in the first quarter. It was the shooting of Broussard and Malcolm Conner in the frame that help the Talons sustain the Dragon run and gain some momentum. Broussard led the way with 10 points in the first frame followed by Conner with 7. The Dragons led going into the second quarter 36-32.

In the second quarter, the Talons caught fire as Broussard went for 13 points set up by guard Will Funn who had 15 assists on the night. It was the Talons tough physical style of defense in the second quarter that paid dividends as they created several Dragon turnovers. Gallup led 71-63 at halftime. The highlight of the night for the Talons came late in the second half as Bernard McIntosh took a Will Funn lob and dunked it over a Dragon defender bringing the crowd to its feet. McIntosh was able to collect his tenth double double of the season on the night as he finished the game with 13 points and 10 rebounds.

Louis Richardson, the other half of the Talons forward duo, had 17 points and 13 rebounds. The win now pushes the Gallup streak to four games. The two teams meet Tuesday night before heading to Mexico for a two game set. For more information, email Steve Kolb at kolbsteven18@aol.com or visit www.abalive.com.
