Marlies Win Twice Last Weekend To Retain North Division Lead

The Marlies snapped a three game losing skid on Friday night with a 5-0 win over the Bulldogs in Hamilton. Toronto followed up that performance with a 2-1 overtime win over the Bulldogs on Sunday afternoon.

- The Marlies are currently first in the North Division and second in the Western Conference with a record of 34-21-4-3 for 75 points.

- The Marlies penalty killing unit ranks first overall in the AHL with an 87.5% success rate.

- The Marlies are 24-0-1-1 when leading after 40 minutes.

- The Marlies are only five points back of the Oklahoma City Barons for top spot in the Western Conference.

- The Marlies will host their third school day game of the season next Wednesday, March 21st at 11am ET.

- Juraj Mikus leads all Marlies in plus/minus with +16

- Mike Zigomanis ranks 10th (tie) in the AHL in assists (35). He is eighth (tie) in power play assists (17). He is also 12th in the AHL in points (53). Zigomanis leads the team with five game-winning goals this season.

- Ryan Hamilton leads all Marlies skaters with 22 goals. He ranks second on the Marlies all-time list with 61 career goals with the club.

- Ben Scrivens has posted a record of 17-13-1-1 with a 2.12 goals against average which currently ranks third in the AHL.

- Goaltender Jussi Rynnas ranks fifth in the AHL with five shutouts.

- Greg Scott has recorded five points (three goals, two assists) in his last seven games.

- Since being traded to Toronto Nicolas Deschamps has tallied 20 points (four goals, 16 assists) in 27 games. In 31 games earlier this season with the Syracuse Crunch, Deschamps had posted seven points.

Last Week:

The Marlies posted a record of 2-1-0-0 over their three games last week. Toronto was shutout 2-0 on Wednesday morning when they hosted the Binghamton Senators. Ben Scrivens made 37 saves in the loss. Mark Borowiecki scored early in the second period and Cory Cowick notched an empty net goal in the third. Robin Lehner made 22 saves for the shutout.

The Marlies scored five times and shutout the Hamilton Bulldogs Friday night at Copps Coliseum.

Ben Scrivens made 23 saves for the shutout. Juraj Mikus registered a goal and assist in the contest. Colton Orr scored his first goal as a Marlie and was named the games first star. Ryan Hamilton, Mike Zigomanis and Philippe Dupuis were the other Toronto goal scorers. The Marlies skated to a 2-1 overtime win over the Hamilton Bulldogs on Saturday. Mike Zigomanis scored the overtime winner.

Scrivens made 22 saves in the win.

UPCOMING OPPONENTS

On Friday, Toronto travels to Grand Rapids to take on the Griffins at Van Andel Arena.

Grand Rapids sits 13 points behind the Marlies in the North Division standings. The Griffins have won six of their last 10 games. Jamie Johnson paces the club with 47 points (19 goals, 28 assist).

The Marlies welcome the Milwaukee Admirals on Saturday afternoon. The Admirals own a record of 30-26-2-2. They currently sit fourth in the Midwest Division and 11th in the Western Conference. The Admirals power play ranks sixth in the AHL at 20.1% success rate.

On Sunday, the Marlies host the Chicago Wolves at 3pm. This is the second meeting between the two clubs. Toronto lost the last meeting 2-1 back in December.

Mark Mancari leads the Wolves' skaters with 50 points (25 goals, 25 assists). He is also sixth (tie) in the AHL in goals.

Reading Report: The Reading Royals rank third in the Atlantic Division with a 29-26-3-4 record. The Royals are 5-4-0-1 in their last 10. Mark Owuya has posted a 10-3-3 record with a 2.72 goals against average and a 0.928 save percentage.
