
Marlies' White to Play for Canada at Spengler Cup

The Toronto Marlies announced today that defenseman Ian White will play for Team Canada at the upcoming Spengler Cup in Davos, Switzerland. Team Canada will meet Russian club team HC Metallurg Magnitogorsk in the opening game for both teams on December 26th. The tournament draws to a close on New Year's Eve.
A native of Steinbach, Manitoba, White, 21, is currently in his second full season with Toronto's American Hockey League affiliate. He has appeared in 25 of the team's 31 games to date, scoring four goals and adding 12 assists for 16 points while recording 20 penalty minutes. Originally selected as the Maple Leafs' sixth choice, 191st overall, in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft, White has appeared in 111 AHL games with St. John's and Toronto, scoring eight goals and adding 34 assists for 42 points while recording 76 penalty minutes.
