The Manitoba Moose, in conjunction with the Vancouver Canucks and Hockey Canada, announced defenceman Brett Skinner will join Team Canada for the Spengler Cup in Davos, Switzerland beginning December 26th, 2005.
Skinner, 22, has appeared in 25 games in his rookie pro season for the Moose, scoring two goals and eight assists for 10 points. He has also added 25 penalty minutes. The Brandon, MB native spent three years at the University of Denver, where he scored 15 goals and 67 assists for 82 points in 122 games with the Pioneers. He was originally Vancouver's third choice, 68th overall, in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.
Skinner becomes the second player in consecutive years to join Canada for the Spengler Cup, as goaltender Alex Auld helped backstop Canada to a silver medal in 2004.
