Hamilton, ON - The Rochester Americans scored two unanswered third period goals to beat the Hamilton Bulldogs 3-2 on Friday evening at Copps Coliseum. It was the Bulldogs third loss in a row to the Americans this season.

The Bulldogs opened the scoring at 7:25 of the first period while on the power play. Hamilton defenceman Danny Syvret stopped an Americans' clearing attempt and fed a pass to Michael Lambert. Lambert then cut into the slot and fired a shot over the shoulder of Rochester goalie Jean-Marc Pelletier.

Rochester tied the game at 1-1, also while on the power play at the 3:17 mark of the second period. Chris Thorburn finished off a passing play by deflecting a Scott Sheppard pass behind Hamilton goaltender Yann Danis. Jiri Novotny also drew an assist on the play.

Hamilton regained the lead at 7:33 of the second period, when Syvret's point shot was tipped between the legs of Pelletier by Marc-Antoine Pouliot. It was Pouliot's seventh goal of the season.

The Americans once again tied the game at the 6:00 mark of the third period. Martin Tuma's shot from the sideboards was tipped up and over the shoulder of Danis by Rochester forward Scott Sheppard. Stefan Meyer also assisted on the goal.

Rochester scored the eventual game winner at 13:16 of the third period with their second power play goal of the game. Jeff Jillson came in from the point and fired a loose puck into the net from a scramble in front of Danis.

Bulldogs goaltender Danis stopped 30 shots for Hamilton, while Pelletier made 31 saves for Rochester to earn the win. Pelletier was also named the game's third star.

Hamilton was 1 for 7 on the power play, while Rochester went 2 for 4 with the man advantage.
