Houston, TX - The Houston Aeros got a powerplay goal from Kirby Law in the final minute of overtime to beat the Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights 4-3 on Friday night at the Toyota Center. The Aeros, the top team in the West Division, erased a 3-1 deficit to win their fifth game against the Knights in as many meetings.

The Knights got on the board first during a scramble in front of goalie Josh Harding. Justin Taylor would get credit for poking the puck just over the goal line for his seventh goal of the year.

Omaha would double its lead at 13:31 of the period. Off another scramble in front, Warren Peters slipped the puck under Harding for his sixth goal of the season.

The Aeros would counter on the powerplay late in the first. Matt Foy got free down the slot and converted a pass from Patrick O'Sullivan for his first goal of the year.

The Knights quickly regained their two-goal lead in the second period. Tomi Maki slid the puck to Brandon Rogers who got off a one-timer. Cam Severson tipped the shot past Harding to make it 3-1.

The Aeros would draw back to within one just after killing off a penalty. Erik Reitz came out of the penalty box, got behind the Knights' defense and raced in to beat Curtis McElhinney with a wrist shot to make it 3-2 after two.

Houston then tied the game in the third period when Foy collected the rebound of a shot of the back boards and beat McElhinney from a sharp angle at 12:50 of the third period.

Just 2:01 later, Lynn Loyns got free for a breakaway but was hauled down, leading to a penalty shot. He was turned aside by Harding to keep the game tied at three.

In the overtime, the Aeros got a powerplay in the final minute when Taylor was whistled for hooking Rem Murray. Only 16 seconds later, Kirby Law got free and beat McElhinney with a backhander as he was knocked to the ice.

The Knights are now 13-13-1-7. The game marked their first overtime loss. They finish off their four-game road swing after Christmas when they travel to Michigan to face the Grand Rapids Griffins on Wednesday, December 28th at 6:00 p.m. Central time.

The Knights are home again on December 30th when they host the Milwaukee Admirals at 7:00 p.m.
