Marlies Host T-Birds for First Time this Season
March 25, 2018 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Toronto Marlies News Release
The Toronto Marlies will hit the ice for the third time in under 48 hours on Sunday when the Springfield Thunderbirds make their first trip of the season to Ricoh Coliseum.
The Marlies have split the first two games of the weekend, beating Belleville 4-2 on Friday and then losing by the same score to the Senators yesterday.
In their past ten games, the Marlies have won seven contests while Springfield, who have lost five straight, are 3-4-3-0 in their last ten.
These two sides have met only once this season, with the Marlies winning a closely contested 2-1 game in Springfield back in October.
Coming into Sunday's contest, Miro Aaltonen has goals in consecutive games and 11 points (7G, 4A) in his last 11 games.
Adam Brooks is riding a three-game point streak and has recorded seven points (2G, 5A) in his last seven games while Ben Smith, who leads the Marlies with 25 goals and 53 points, has 15 points in his last 13 games.
At the other end, Curtis Valk is leading the Thunderbirds in scoring with 50 points (17G, 33A) while Anthony Greco's 26 goals have him in first place with Springfield.
Springfield suffered a 4-2 loss in Rochester last night.
Puck drop on today's game is scheduled for 4:30 following the completion of the Clarkson Cup Final and tickets are still available.
