SUNDAY IN SAN JOSE: Today marks the eighth and final meeting with the Barracuda this season, and the fourth of four scheduled visits to San Jose's SAP Center. The Roadrunners are playing the second of a four-game road trip; they're coming off of a 2-1 win over the Bakersfield Condors on Saturday night. The Barracuda are playing the final of a two-game home stand; they're coming off of a 7-3 loss to the Ontario Reign on Saturday.
TRACKING 27: Michael Bunting has had a knack for producing against the Barracuda this season, totaling eight points (6G, 2A) in seven games played against San Jose. Along with his run of success against the Barracuda this year, Bunting enters the day with the Roadrunners' longest current point streak; he's registered points in each of the team's last four games, totaling five (3G, 2A) during that run.
WHAT'S UP, G?: Conor Garland netted his second game-winning goal in four games Saturday night, helping the Roadrunners to a 2-1 victory over the Bakersfield Condors. Garland has notched multi-point performances in three of his last four contests, and has six points (3G, 3A) during that span.
PROJECTED LINEUP: The team did not hold a morning skate ahead of today's game. Per club policy, specifics regarding the team's lineup will not be published until 1:00 PM this afternoon.
FORWARDS: (TBA)
DEFENSEMEN: (TBA)
GOALTENDERS: (TBA)
BEST IN THE WEST: The Roadrunners have surpassed the Manitoba Moose to claim first-place in the Western Conference for the second time this season. Saturday night's win, coupled with Manitoba's 3-1 loss to the Stockton Heat, allowed Tucson to leap-frog the Moose. The Roadrunners' .650 points percentage, albeit by a small amount, currently tops the Manitoba's .642.
THE LAST TIME AROUND: In the teams' previous meeting on March 21 at Tucson Arena, the Roadrunners fell to the Barracuda in overtime, 4-3. Mike Sislo, Joel Hanley, and Carter Camper scored for Tucson; Camper extended the affair to overtime in netting the game-tying goal with 1:17 left in regulation. Jacob Middleton secured the win for San Jose, scoring a power play goal 2:07 into the extra frame. Adin Hill stopped 14 of the 18 shots he faced in the loss.
UNDER THE SUN: The Roadrunners are winless (0-3-2-0) in games played that start at 4:05 PM local time or earlier this season, falling to the Chicago Wolves 2-1 in overtime on October 22 (4:00 PM CST), the Ontario Reign 4-2 on December 3 (3:05 PM PST), the San Diego Gulls 5-3 on December 17 (10:00 AM MST), the Bakersfield Condors 3-2 on February 19 (4:05 PM MST), and the Cleveland Monsters 3-2 in overtime on March 4 (3:00 PM EST). Can the team earn its first afternoon victory (3:00 PM PST) of the season today against San Jose?
PLAYOFF PUSH: The Roadrunners enter the day with the lowest magic number in the Western Conference (7). The Barracuda are on the outside of the playoff picture looking in, currently situated at eighth-place in the Pacific Division.
