Marlies Host Penguins on Tuesday Night
March 20, 2018 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Toronto Marlies News Release
The Toronto Marlies will look to rebound from Sunday's 3-1 loss when they return to the ice for a rare Tuesday matchup against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.
It's just the second time the two teams have faced off this season, with the Penguins taking the first matchup by a 4-2 final.
Both sides have won six of their last ten games coming into Tuesday's contest.
The Marlies (44-17-1-1) saw a five game win streak snapped on Sunday and will be looking to start a new one when they hit the ice.
Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (37-19-4-2) defeated Hershey by a 6-4 final on Sunday to end a two-game skid.
Special teams could be an important factor in tonight's game, as the Marlies top power play (89.3%) will go up against a Penguins power play that has struggled this season, converting on just 13% of chances and only 12.7% on the road.
Ben Smith is leading the Marlies in scoring this season with an even 50 points (24G, 26A) while Chris Muelelr is second with 42 total points (14G, 28A) on the season.
At the other end, the Penguins have found scoring success in rookie Daniel Sprong, who has 22 goals and 47 points this year. Sprong is third in rookie scoring league wide.
Puck drop on tonight's game is scheduled for 7:00 PM and tickets are still available. Fans can also tune in on Leafs Nation Network or AHL Live.
Fans attending the game can enter our Insider Seat Upgrade contest for the chance to be moved up to platinum seats and all fans can enter our First Goal Challenge for the chance to win tickets to an upcoming game.
