San Diego Gulls News Release

SAN DIEGO - The Anaheim Ducks announced today that the National Hockey League (NHL) club has recalled defenseman Andy Welinski from the San Diego Gulls, Anaheim's primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL).

Welinski, 24 (4/27/93), has earned 0-2=2 points with a +1 rating in four games with Anaheim this season. Welinski made his NHL debut on Dec. 11 vs. Carolina and recorded two assists in his first two games, becoming the first Anaheim rookie to record a point in his first two career games since Alex Grant (Nov. 30-Dec. 11, 2013).

Selected by Anaheim in the third round (83rd overall) of the 2011 NHL Draft, Welinski collected 10-24=34 points with seven power-play goals and 22 penalty minutes (PIM) in 51 games with San Diego this season. At the time of his recall, Welinski ranked second among Gulls leaders in power-play goals, while also leading San Diego defensemen in points, goals and assists. The 6-1, 206-pound blueliner has appeared in 119 career AHL games with San Diego, recording 16-48=64 points with 40 PIM.
