Coyotes Sign Madsen to Two-Year Entry-Level Contract

GLENDALE, ARIZONA -- Arizona Coyotes President of Hockey Operations and General Manager John Chayka announced today that the Coyotes have signed goaltender Merrick Madsen to a two-year entry-level contract. As per Club policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed.

"Merrick is a big, skilled, athletic goaltender," said Chayka. "We're pleased with his development and excited to have him signed."

The 22-year-old Madsen has posted a 10-10-3 record with a .918 save percentage (SV%), a 2.27 goals against average (GAA) and has three shutouts in 24 games with Harvard University. Madsen has the sixth-best SV% and the fifth-lowest GAA in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC).

The 6-foot-5, 190-pound native of Preston, ID has a career record of 56-23-8 with a .924 SV%, 2.12 GAA and 10 shutouts in 91 career games for Harvard. He will now report to the Tucson Roadrunners, the club's American Hockey League affiliate.

Madsen was originally drafted by the Philadelphia Flyers in the sixth round (162nd overall) in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.
