
Marks Dominates Bees in Snappers Series Opening 1-0 Win

Burlington, IA - Wyatt Marks tied his career-high with seven scoreless innings Saturday night in the Beloit Snappers (53-49) 1-0 series opening victory over the Burlington Bees (39-62) at Community Field.
Marks turned in one of his best outings of the season, going seven innings and surrendering just two hits. He racked up 10 strikeouts, one away from his career high of 11, and kept the Bees hitters on their heels all game.
The lone run came in the third inning, with a Ryan Gridley RBI single plating Jack Meggs. Gridley and Meggs were the only Snappers who recorded hits in the Snappers lineup.
Jesus Zambrano came in for the last inning locked in, striking out the side to earn his fourth save of the season. The scoreless ninth extended his consecutive scoreless streak to 18.2 straight innings.
It was the Snappers 18th series opening win this season, moving to 18-12 on the season. They have won 16 of their last 22 games overall and it was their eighth shutout of the season.
The Snappers will resume this four-game series Sunday at 2:00 p.m. Starting for the Snappers will be right-hander Jean Ruiz (4-7, 4.41). Opposing him will be right-hander Denny Brady (0-3, 6.00).
