Mobile BayBears News Release

MOBILE, AL - Mark Reynolds became the first BayBear called to the Major Leagues in the BayBears tenure as an Arizona Diamondbacks affiliate Wednesday. After 37 games with the BayBears this season, Reynolds will join the Diamondbacks during their series with the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field. Reynolds becomes the 72nd Mobile BayBear to join a Major League roster since 1997.

The infielder was 3-for-3 in Mobile's 13-0 win Tuesday night, the last game before the Major League call up for Reynolds. The Virginia Beach, VA native hit .306 with a teamleading six home runs and 22 RBI's through the first 37 games.

Reynolds was a 16th round choice by Arizona in the 2004 draft out of the University of Virginia. He hit 31 home runs in 2007, to lead the entire Diamondbacks Minor League system. After playing for Single-A Lancaster and Double-A Tennessee last season, Reynolds joined Team USA for their Olympic qualifying tournament in Havana, Cuba.

The BayBears end a fivegame series against Jacksonville Wednesday at 11:35 AM. After a series in Chattanooga, the BayBears return home for 10 games beginning May 23rd against Huntsville.
