Hitter of the Week
JAKE FOX, 1B-OF, TENNESSEE SMOKIES
With multiple hits in six of seven games and an astounding 16 safeties in all, Fox edged Mobile's Justin Upton in a tight race for Southern League Hitter of the Week honors. Fox opened the week with two hits, including a solo home run, against Chattanooga on May 14. The native of Ann Arbor, MI then strung together seven consecutive hits, including three home runs, as the Smokies won the final two games of their five-game set with the Lookouts. The 24-year-old Fox opened a five-game series at Mississippi with three doubles on Thursday and added a pair of singles the following night. Fox completed the week with a single and a triple in Sunday's 8-5 victory against the Braves, giving him a .522 average and league-high 1.138 slugging percentage that upstaged Upton's scintillating debut week at Double A that featured four homers and 11 RBI.

Pitcher of the Week
JAMES HOUSER, LHP, MONTGOMERY BISCUITS
With wins in both starts during the week, Houser helped the Biscuits continue one streak while extending an impressive one of his own. The 22-year-old Houser gave up just two hits and recorded a season-high seven strikeouts in 6 1/3 innings of a 4-0 win on May 15, clinching Montgomery's five-game series victory at West Tenn. Five days later, Houser surrendered two hits in five scoreless frames as the Biscuits posted a 5-1 triumph against Birmingham to clinch their fourth straight series victory. With the two wins, Houser has won 14 consecutive decisions dating to last May. A second-round pick in the 2003 draft, Houser completed the 2006 season riding an 11-game winning streak as a member of the Class-A California League's Visalia Oaks. In his first six starts in the Southern League, the native of Sarasota, FL has gone 3-0 with a 2.48 ERA.
