The Otters kept the game scoreless in the second inning when Ellison led off with a walk, moved to second on a wild pitch but was thrown out at the plate by outfielder Chris Elder to end the frame.

It allowed Evansville to score an extra run and go ahead 3-0.

Marin yielded a solo home run to Joe Rapp in the fourth inning but Evansville's outfielder Chris Sweeney followed with a home run in the bottom of the inning.

After scoring a run in the seventh, the Greys brought the tying run to the plate in the eighth only to see Otters reliever Jose Velez get a flyout to end the inning. Closer Orlando Santos retired all three batters he faced in the ninth to preserve the 5-2 victory.
