
Wild Things Win Fifth Straight 9-3

Washington, PA-The Washington Wild Things, presented by Washington Financial, erupted for seven runs in the sixth inning, lifting itself to a 9-3 victory and its fifth straight win at CONSOL Energy Park on Saturday.
The offense combined for 10 hits and Washington hitters CJ Beatty, Ryan Kresky, Stewart Ijames, William Beckwith and Garrett Rau all collected RBIs in the win.
Rockford struck first with two runs in the top of the third to take a 2-0 advantage but Washington quickly answered with the lumber as Beatty launched a two-run homer in the bottom of the frame to knot the score at two.
Rockford regained the lead in the fifth inning when Jose Martinez's RBI single gave them a 3-2 lead.
A close game broke wide open as the Wild Things sent twelve men to the plate and poured on seven runs with two outs in the sixth inning. The scoring began with an RBI single by second baseman Garrett Rau to tie the game. Later in the frame, Rockford pitchers threw six passed balls and William Beckwith scorched a two-run single to put the Things' in front 9-3.
Southpaw and former Pittsburgh Pirates draft pick Zac Fuesser earned the win for Washington and Rockford starter Kyle Brueggeman took his second loss of the season.
