Rockford Aviators News Release
WASHINGTON, PA - The offense looked a lot better for the Rockford Aviators (2-6), presented by Pearson, through the first few innings as the team put four runners aboard and scored two runs through three innings, but it wasn't enough as they fell 9-3 at the hands of the Washington Wild Things (5-3).
Kenny Bryant tripled in the third inning to score Edgar Corcino and Jose Martinez to give the Aviators an early 2-0 lead.
The Washington Wild Things responded in the bottom of the third when C.J. Beatty hammered a two-run shot over the right field wall to tie the game at two a piece.
The Aviators again took the lead again in the top of the fifth when Martinez picked up his second hit of the game to drive in Corcino for his second run of the game. Corcino also had a stolen base.
With two outs in the bottom of the sixth inning, Maxx Garrett singled to spark a seven-run inning for the Wild Things.
Kyle Brueggemann gave up three singles and a walk as two runs would score to make the game 4-2.
David Wayne Russo then entered the game and walked the next two batters and gave up a single, giving up three more runs and making the score 7-2.
Russo would come in to be the third pitcher of the inning and would surrender another walk to Carter Bell and a 2-RBI single to Will Beckwith to make the score 9-2.
The inning would finally end after a wild pitch from Odom bounced off of the backstop wall and into the hands of Adrian Martinez who then threw out Bell trying to steal home.
The Aviators will play the Wild Things tomorrow night to conclude a six game road trip. The first pitch is scheduled for 5:05 p.m. Eastern Time and can be heard live on the Meridix Network beginning at 4:50 p.m.
