
Manzella Cycle Paces RedHawks Win

Oklahoma City, Okla. - Tommy Manzella hit for the cycle, the first in the Pacific Coast League in 2011, while leading the Oklahoma City RedHawks (15-17) to a 10-5 win over the Tacoma Rainiers (12-21) before 2,967 Tuesday night at RedHawks Field at Bricktown.
Manzella completed the cycle with a second inning double, fourth inning RBI triple, sixth inning RBI single and eighth inning leadoff home run (audio of hits in order is attached as an .mp3; home run is also attached as separate clip).
Astros outfielder Jason Michaels finished two-for-four with two doubles and walk in his fourth game of a rehabilitation assignment (left shoulder). Michaels is expected to finish his assignment tomorrow night.
Sergio Perez (2-2) allowed three runs and nine hits over five and one-thirds innings with four walks and three strikeouts in a winning decision. Chris Seddon (0-2) gave up six runs and seven hits with three walks and three strikeouts over six innings in a losing decision.
Oklahoma City opened the scoring with a two-run first inning, using a Michaels double and Drew Locke ground out to open a 2-0 score. The RedHawks extended the lead to 4-0 in the fourth inning with a Tommy Manzella triple and Jose Vallejo sacrifice fly each bringing a run.
Tacoma plated two runs on a Josh Bard single in the fifth inning against Perez, cutting the RedHawks lead to 4-2. In the bottom of the fifth inning Brandon Barnes belted a leadoff home run, extending the lead back to 5-2.
The teams traded sixth inning runs as Mike Carp used an infield single to bring in a run in the top of the inning before a Manzella RBI single opened a 6-3 Oklahoma City lead.
The RedHawks opened the lead to 8-3 in the seventh inning when a J.B. Shuck single and Koby Clemens sacrifice fly added single runs. Tommy Manzella and Anderson Hernandez belted solo home runs in the eighth inning for a 10-3 advantage.
Tacoma scored a pair of ninth inning runs on a Brandon Haveman single and Dustin Ackley sacrifice fly for a 10-5 final.
