Oklahoma City, Okla. - Ryan Rowland-Smith allowed one run and six scattered hits in six innings while the Oklahoma City RedHawks (16-17) scored three times in the fifth inning for a 3-1 win over the Tacoma Rainiers (12-22) before 2,938 Wednesday night at RedHawks Field at Bricktown.

Astros outfielder Jason Michaels was one-for-four with a fifth inning RBI single, improving to 6-for-20 in his rehabilitation assignment (left shoulder).

Rowland-Smith (2-2) walked one in the first inning and struck out a season-best seven Rainiers hitters en route to his second consecutive winning decision. Chaz Roe (0-4) allowed three runs, one earned, and eight hits over five and two-thirds innings in the loss. Fernando Rodriguez (1) saved the game with a scoreless ninth inning.

Tacoma opened the scoring in the first inning. Franklin Gutierrez, continuing a rehabilitation assignment from Seattle, led off with a single, moved to second on a bunt base hit, advanced to third on a walk and scored on a sacrifice fly for a 1-0 Rainiers lead.

Roe allowed three hits over the first four innings before his defense faltered in the fifth inning. Tommy Manzella started the inning with a doubled before a J.B. Shuck bunt single moved Manzella to third. Jose Vallejo hit a chopper to first base, which was misplayed for an error, and scored Manzella from third for an RBI and a 1-1 score. With two on and no outs, Anderson Hernandez bunted straight ahead to try advancing the runners, but Roe threw wild past third base to score Shuck for a 2-1 RedHawks lead. After a Brandon Barnes double play, Michaels singled in Vallejo for a 3-1 score.

RedHawks LH Douglas Arguello will face Rainiers LH Fabio Castro in game three of the series Thursday at 7:05 p.m. Tickets are available through the RedHawks box office at 405-218-1000 or by visiting okcredhawks.com.
