CHARLESTON, S.C. - Zach Collier's two-run triple headlined a game-breaking three-run fifth to support six strong innings from Ervis Manzanillo as the Lakewood BlueClaws downed the Charleston RiverDogs, 5-2, in South Atlantic League action Thursday night in front of a crowd of 3,583 fans at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park.

Lakewood moved to 12-14 with the win, while Charleston fell to 11-16 with its fifth loss in six games versus the BlueClaws to date.

Manzanillo (1-1) was on top of his game in keeping the Charleston offense in check, just as he did in Lakewood last week. The 19-year old Venezuelan allowed only two runs on five hits and three walks, striking out three and matching a season-high with 6.0 innings of work.

Charleston's Nik Turley (1-2) and Manzanillo opposed each other on the bump for the second time in eight days. Both were sharp in the early going, as the contest remained scoreless through two innings.

Alan Schoenberger parked a solo home run over the left-centerfield fence to give Lakewood a 1-0 lead with two outs in the third. It was the first SAL hit of the season for the Australia native, who started the year with the Clearwater Phillies of the Florida State League.

Turley induced a line drive double play to escape a jam in the fourth, but could not get through the fifth unscathed, as the BlueClaws pushed their advantage to 2-0. Zach Collier drew a leadoff walk and raced from first to third on a throwing error. Carolos Perdomo singled Collier home two batters later, sneaking a sharp groundball past the diving Rob Segedin at third base.

Aaron Ledesma pulled Turley in favor of Wilton Rodriguez to start the sixth. It was another solid showing for the 6-6 southpaw, who worked at least 5.0 innings and allowed two earned runs or fewer for the fifth consecutive start. Turley surrendered four hits and three walks on the night, fanning five to help navigate his way around trouble.

Rodriguez could not keep the Lakewood bats at bay in his first inning of relief, yielding three runs as the BlueClaws opened up a 5-0 cushion.

Jim Murphy drew a leadoff free pass, and advanced to third on a single by Aaron Altherr. Collier then stepped to the plate and cleared the bases, lining a triple into the right-field corner to double the Lakewood lead. Stephen Batts concluded the damaging frame, lofting a sacrifice fly to center to score the speedy Collier.

The RiverDogs finally got to Manzanillo in the last of the sixth, plating two to slice the deficit to three runs. Batting in the number seven hole for the first time all year, Gary Sanchez hammered a towering two-run double off the right-centerfield wall, chasing home Segedin and Kelvin De Leon to make the score 5-2.

Tyler Knigge struck out two in the ninth to record his first save of the season.
