Goals:
- Curtis McKenzie finds a wide open Jason Dickinson in front of the Moose net, he tips the back hand pass behind Connor Hellebuyck at 13:31 of the first period.
- Blank drives the net and fires a wrist shot on net, Cole Ully grabs the rebound and beats a stretched Hellebuyck at 5:17 of the second period.
- The puck comes right to the stick of Mattias Backman as he jumps up into the play during a scramble in front. Backman wrists one past Hellebuyck while on the powerplay at 7:38 of the second period.
- While on the powerplay, Nic Petan works the puck down to Thomas Raffl at the low post who sends a quick pass out front to Scott Kosmachuk who one-times it past Maxime Lagace at 15:05 of the second period.
- Gemel Smith drives the right hand side and beats Hellebuyck with a wrist shot on the glove side at 5:57 of the third period.
- After a backhand shot is deflected on net, the rebound comes right to Gemel Smith who scores on a wrist shot past Hellebuyck at 9:59 of the third period.
- Following an Emil Molin wrist shot the rebound comes to Cory Kane who wrists it past Hellebuyck at 16:48 of the third period.
Highlights/Notes:
- The Moose played on back-to-back nights for the 17th time this season and the fifth time in a different city in the second half of the back-to-back.
- Scott Kosmachuk scored for the second consecutive night with both goals coming on the powerplay. Kosmachuk matches his career high in goals (14) which he scored in his rookie season last year with St. John's. His eight goals on the road are the most by any Moose player.
- Six goals are the most allowed in a game by Connor Hellebuyck all season. He had not allowed more three since returning from the Winnipeg Jets on Feb. 12. He made 30 saves in the game.
- Manitoba scored a powerplay goal for the fifth straight game. In their last 12 games the Moose powerplay has gone 11-for-41 for a success rate of 26.8%.
- The Moose gave up more than three goals for the first time since last playing Texas on Feb. 10 (7-6 Stars win), a stretch of nine games. Texas has scored the most goals in all of the AHL this season (231).
- This is the first time the Moose have lost a game by more than one goal since Jan. 30, a stretch of 14 games.
- The Moose now have a 0-2-0-1 record against the Stars this season. The two teams will play once more in the regular season finale on Apr. 16 in Texas.
The Moose will return home for a two game series against the Iowa Wild which begins on Monday, Mar. 7 against the Iowa Wild. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the MTS Centre.
