St. John's IceCaps News Release
ST. JOHN'S - The St. John's IceCaps dropped a heartbreaker to the Albany Devils Saturday, losing 5-4 in overtime at Mile One Centre in the second of two games this weekend.
With just 47 seconds left in the extra frame, the Devils' Brian O'Neill attempted a pass cross-crease that deflected off Josiah Didier and past Zach Fucale for the game-winner.
Nikita Scherbak notched three points (1G, 2A), his first multi-point effort as a pro, while Bud Holloway, Joel Hanley and Brandon McNally also scored for St. John's. Both Holloway and McNally finished with two points each. Fucale stopped 26 shots in the loss.
The IceCaps lead 2-0 on their first three shots but the Devils stormed back with four unanswered goals in the opening frame. St. John's eventually tied things up on McNally's goal early in the third period.
Despite the loss, the IceCaps have recorded points in three straight games (2-0-1-0).
St. John's returns to action Tuesday and Wednesday vs. the Binghamton Senators. Tickets are still available and can be purchased at the Mile One Centre box office or online at www.mileonecentre.com.
