MANCHESTER, NH - The Manchester Monarchs, the primary affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings, have cancelled the Manchester Monarchs Pond Hockey Classic at Dorrs Pond in Manchester on Saturday, February 12, 2011 due to poor ice conditions, Monarchs President Darren Abbott announced today.

"We regret having to cancel Saturday's tournament but the safety of the players is of the utmost concern this weekend," explained Abbott. "The recent weather in New Hampshire has created an ice surface that is too dangerous for the tournament. We appreciate the community's support and understanding, and look forward to holding this event next winter."

The tournament was to benefit the Manchester High School Hockey Programs of Memorial and Central High Schools. The Monarchs are working with the two hockey programs to raise funds for their organizations.

The Monarchs return to action on Friday, February 11 when they face-off against the Portland Pirates at 7:00 p.m. at the Verizon Wireless Arena. Catch all the play-by-play action of Monarchs hockey with Ken Cail on the Monarchs Radio Network WGAM 900/1250 AM and at www.manchestermonarchs.com.
