Rochester Americans News Release

(Rochester, February 10) ‚¬Â¦ While the Rochester Americans were busy hosting the Abbotsford Heat at The Blue Cross Arena last night in an American Hockey League game, the Amerks logo was making an appearance on ABC ‚¬â„¢s newest show, ‚¬Å“Mr. Sunshine ‚¬Â with Matthew Perry.

A 1960's Amerks logo is visible among framed jerseys during the first six minutes of the show as Perry walks out of the main office of the San Diego Sports Arena. The Amerks won their first three Calder Cups (1965, 66 and 68) while wearing the white sweaters, trimmed in red, with the titled shield. (Photo attached - cherry2)

The appearance of one of hockey ‚¬â„¢s most recognizable logos was the second in three days for the Amerks crest. (Photo attached - Amerks logo) The modern shield and cursive ‚¬Å“Americans ‚¬Â script was on a jersey worn by an autograph seeker in the Monday episode of ‚¬Å“Donald J. Trump's Fabulous World of Golf - Hull vs. Roenick ‚¬Â on the Golf Channel. The episode features a celebrity match between legendary hockey players Brett Hull and Jeremy Roenick.

The Rochester Americans were founded in 1956 and have won six Calder Cup titles. The second oldest team in the American Hockey League, Rochester has produced future NHL players such as Gerry Cheevers, Ryan Miller, Jody Gage and Martin Biron, and dynamic coaches like Don Cherry, Al Arbour, Mike Keenan and Joe Crozier. In 2008, The Hockey News rated the current Amerks logo as the best in the AHL.
