Here is a look at some of the community events that the Hamilton Bulldogs and Bulldogs Foundation have been involved with recently.
Pink in the Rink
The ¬ËDogs will hold their annual ¬ÅPink in the Rink ¬Â game on Saturday February 12th at 4:00 p.m. against the Rochester Americans. The game is aimed to raise funds and awareness for Breast Cancer Support Services which is a self-help organization created by women for anyone who has concerns about breast cancer or general breast health. BCSS is also a truly unique organization as it is the only support centre in the Hamilton, Halton area which deals specifically with breast cancer. BCSS will be selling a special ticket package that will include a ticket to the game and a pink Bulldogs baseball cap for $20. Those packages can be purchased as the organization ¬â¢s website, http://www.breastcancersupport.org/.
Hamilton Bulldogs Pepsi Refresh Program
The Hamilton Bulldogs and the Bulldogs Foundation announced that the Dawgs Breakfast Program has been entered into the Pepsi Refresh Program ¬â¢s contest to win $100,000. Fans are encouraged to become a fan of the Hamilton Bulldogs Pepsi Refresh Program Fan Page located at http://www.facebook.com/bulldogspepsi. Instructions on how to vote for the program are located on the page. Fans can win an autographed, game-worn P.K. Subban 2010 AHL All-Star Jersey by voting and becoming a fan of the page. The more you vote, the better chance you have at winning the jersey. Fans can vote directly for the program by going to http://www.refresheverything.ca/hamiltonbulldogsdogsbreakfast and clicking on the vote icon. Fans can vote with multiple e-mail addresses but only once a day under each account.
Dawgs Breakfast
UPDATE: As part of the Dawgs Breakfast Program, a $1,200 fridge was donated to Bennetto Elementary School from Paul Hoag of Robar Centre while Quaker has donated an additional $10,000 worth of product to be divided amongst the three schools and be delivered the morning of Friday, February 11th.
The Hamilton Bulldogs and Bulldogs Foundation in conjunction with the Hamilton Wentworth District School Board announced on November 30th the launch of the Dawgs Breakfast Program. The program will provide breakfast to over 2,000 students who attend Barton Secondary School, Bennetto Elementary School and Parkview Secondary School. With support from The Grocery Foundation and Quaker, a Divison of PepsiCo Foods Canada, the Bulldogs Foundation is committing $225,000 in cash or kind to the program over the next three years. On November 30th at a press conference held at Bennetto Elementary School, The Bulldogs Foundation presented a $10,000 cheque to each of the three schools to begin the program.
Family Day Game
The Hamilton Bulldogs will host a game on Family Day on Monday, February 21st at a special time of 2:00 p.m. at Copps Coliseum. Fans are encouraged to bring their entire family down to Copps Coliseum to enjoy a fun-filled day. A special ticket package can be purchased for $60 for families attending the game and will include four tickets to the game and a $20 food and beverage voucher. The offer expires on February 19th.
Players Out and About
Hamilton Bulldogs goaltender Curtis Sanford and forward J.T. Wyman attended Mary Hopkins Elementary School to help promote the school ¬â¢s literacy awareness program. Sanford and Wyman read ¬ÅThe Hockey Sweater ¬Â to the students during a school assembly and answered a number of questions from the students.
Schedule of Bruiser Community Appearances for February
Tuesday, February 8th ¬" Bruiser attended the Toque Tuesday media event which was held at Mohawk College. The event wrapped up the toque campaign that was done by Raising the Roof. Derek Wills, Raising the Roof ¬â¢s Honorary Chair, MC ¬â¢d the event.
Thursday, February 10th ¬" Bruiser was on-hand for a fundraising barbeque put on by the Hamilton Police Services Running Team in support of Hamilton ¬â¢s St. Joseph ¬â¢s Hospital. The second fundraising barbeque will take place on Thursday, March 3rd.
Friday, February 11th ¬" Bruiser will be a special guest at St. Agnes School on Friday as students participate in a Move-A-Thon fundraiser. Kids are encouraged to get active and get moving as they help raise awareness and funds for their school. Bruiser will be on-hand to cheer on the students as they do their best to keep active.
Saturday, February 12th ¬" Bruiser will be making a special appearance at the annual Hamilton Bulldogs Season Ticket Holder Party! Season ticket holders will be rubbing elbows with the entire Hamilton Bulldogs team after their home game versus the Rochester Americans. Bruiser will be sure to have a brand new sharpie handy as he will be signing autographs and posing for photos at this VIP event.
Saturday ¬" February 19th ¬" The annual Tim Horton ¬â¢s jamboree takes place at Copps Coliseum as a select group of Timbits minor hockey teams will be invited to take part in this event featuring interactive games, awards ceremonies and ice skating. Bruiser will be there to join in on all the fun
Friday, February 25th ¬" Bruiser will join the ¬ËDogs for their game at Bell Centre against the Adirondack Phantoms. This will be the second of two games played at Bell Centre this year and Bruiser is always a fan favourite in the home of the Montreal Canadiens.
The ¬ËDogs will host the Connecticut Whale on Friday, February 11th for a 7:00 p.m. game at Copps Coliseum. The ¬ËDogs will then welcome the Rochester Americans to Copps Coliseum for a 4:00 p.m. game in their annual ¬ÅPink in the Rink ¬Â night on Saturday, February 12th. All regular season Hamilton Bulldogs broadcasts on AM 820 CHAM will begin with a pre-game show 30 minutes prior to the scheduled start time.
