Manchester Assigns Three Players To Reading

Reading, PA - The Reading Royals, affiliate of the NHL¡¯s Los Angeles Kings and AHL's Manchester Monarchs, today announced that the Monarchs have assigned forward, Brendan Bernakevitch, and defensemen, Eric Werner and Tyler Hanchuck, to the Royals.

Bernakevitch, a 23 year-old rookie from Regina, Saskatchewan, played his college hockey at Harvard University. In his junior year, he was selected as the Most Valuable Player of the Eastern College Athletic Conference Tournament after scoring the game winning goal in Harvard's semi-final game and then assisting on the game winner in the finals. A first year pro from Gross Pointe Woods, Michigan, Werner played his college hockey at the University of Michigan. He was honored in his freshman year by being selected to the Central Collegiate Hockey Association's All-Rookie team after leading all other defensemen in the conference with twenty assists. Werner also scored some big goals in his college career, including the game winner in the first round of the CCHA tournament against Notre Dame in his senior season. Hanchuck, a third round pick of the Montreal Canadiens in 2000, is in his third year as a pro, playing the bulk of his season last year with the Topeka Tarantulas of the Central Hockey League, where he picked up 9 assists and 134 penalty minutes in sixty games.

The Royals 5th Anniversary Season officially begins at home in the Sovereign Center on Saturday, October 29 against the Titans. The Royals will raise the North Division regular season championship banner prior to the drop of the puck.
