
Checkers assigned goalie from Binghamton

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Derek Wilkinson, head coach and general manager or the Charlotte Checkers, announced today that the team has been assigned goalie Jeff Glass from the Binghamton Senators of the American Hockey League. The Checkers also agreed to terms with center Mike Bayrack, who enters his seventh season at the professional ranks.
Glass, 19, was the Ottawa Senators' third-round pick, 89th overall, in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. A native of Calgary, Alberta, Glass helped Canada capture a gold medal in the 2005 World Junior Championship.
Glass (6'2", 193 pounds) played three seasons with the Kootenay Ice of the WHL where he set franchise records for most games played (143), minutes played (8,206), GAA (2.16), save percentage (0.918), saves (3,296), wins (75), ties (14) and shutouts (17).
The Checkers also agreed to terms with Bayrack who was acquired from the Texas Wildcatters. Bayrack, 27, is a veteran center who has racked up 141 points (68g, 73a) and 163 penalty minutes over three seasons in the ECHL. The Edmonton, Alberta native has served five stints with four different AHL teams, most recently during the 2004-05 season with the Springfield Falcons and Bridgeport Sound Tigers, respectively.

The Charlotte Checkers open their 13th season in the ECHL Friday, October 21st at Gwinnett.
