
Magic Fall to Celtics on the Road

The Lakeland Magic, NBA G League affiliate of the Orlando Magic, fall to the Maine Celtics 115-112 on Sunday at the Portland Expo Building.
The first quarter started off with the Celtics in control. The Magic would get their first lead of the game at the 2:31 mark, both teams would exchange the lead once more in the quarter. Lakeland led Maine 26-25 at the end of the first.
The Celtics would do no wrong in the second quarter. Maine took the lead early on and would eventually build their largest lead of the half at 12 points. JD Davison of the Celtics would lead all scorers with 12 points, the Magic trailed the Celtics 63-53 at the end of the first half.
Maine never gave up their lead in the third quarter, the Celtics would build a 15-point lead. Magic Guard Jay Scrubb would erupt for a 12-point scoring performance in the quarter helping the Magic trim the Celtic lead. Maine would stay in charge with a 90-84 lead over Lakeland.
The Magic continued to build on their performance from the third and would reclaim the lead for the first time since early in the second quarter with 10:14 remaining in the game. Despite the Magic's best effort, the Celtics would win 115-112.
Marial Shayok finished with a game-high 32 points, five rebounds, and five assists for the Celtics.
Caleb Houstan had 25 points off the bench for the Magic.
The Lakeland Magic (8-4) will face the Delaware Blue Coats Tuesday, January 24 at the Chase Fieldhouse at 7:00 PM on ESPN+.
