Indiana Mad Ants News Release
FORT WAYNE, Ind. - A hot shooting start led the way for College Park on Sunday afternoon as the Skyhawks topped Fort Wayne 129-91.
College Park was able to attack early, building a 17-10 lead before Gabe York and Justin Anderson notched back-to-back three pointers. Still, the Skyhawks answered back multiple times, including on the hands of a big Brandon Williams bucket. With 3:43 to play in the first, a Cat Barber pull up extended the College Park lead to 34-18. After one, the Skyhawks had increased their lead to 50-24 with a buzzer beating three from Barber, who was 3-of-3 from deep in the opening quarter; College Park hit 7 of their 10 opening quarter three point shots.
The Skyhawks continued their run in the second quarter, hitting 5 of 9 attempts from long range and going into halftime with a commanding 81-42 lead. The Skyhawks shot 63.8 percent from the field, including 63.2 percent from deep. Armoni Brooks scored 24 in the first half and Barber added 20 as the two combined to hit nine three pointers.
It was Fort Wayne who led the way in the third quarter as a pair of Justin Anderson three pointers late helped propel a run, although College Park continued to battle close throughout. Although the Mad Ants were able to cut into the lead some, outscoring the Skyhawks 28-20 in the quarter, College Park led 101-70 at the end of three.
Norvel Pelle found a rhythm in the fourth quarter as the Mad Ants worked to close the gap, including a big two handed dunk. But for every impact Fort Wayne made, College Park swatted right back including some big blocks out of Chris Silva in the second half of the fourth.
College Park was led by Brooks' 31 and Barber's 30 points while the Mad Ants were paced by 19 points out of Gabe York and Norvel Pelle's 16 points and six rebounds. David Stockton, registering eight assists, moved by former Mad Ants assistant coach Maurice Baker into 4th all-time in NBA G League assists. Stockton now has 1,508 assists for his career.
