Augusta Lynx News Release

The Augusta Lynx received help in goal today with the assignment of Seamus Kotyk to the club from the American Hockey League's Houston Aeros.

Kotyk, 25, was 10-6-1 with the Milwaukee Admirals of the AHL last season with a 2.95 GAA in 23 games. The 5-11, 187 lb. netminder also saw action in six games with the Rockford IceHogs of the United Hockey League, posting a 5-1-0 record, 1.00 GAA and a .958 save percentage.

Originally drafted by the Boston Bruins in the fifth round, #147 overall, of the 1999 NHL Entry Draft, Kotyk became the eighth goaltender in AHL history to score a goal when he finished a 4-1 victory over the San Antonio Rampage with a shot into the empty net on April 17, 2005.

"Seamus gives us a great boost in net with his AHL experience," said Lynx head coach Bob Ferguson. "Along with Jason Wolfe, we have one of the better goaltending tandems in the ECHL now."

The London, Ontario native also spent four years with the Ottawa 67's of the Ontario Hockey League, leading the team to the Memorial Cup Tournament in 1999 and also earning OHL Third-Team All-Star honors that year. In 2001, he captured the Gretzky Trophy as the OHL's post-season MVP. Kotyk also holds the 67's team record with 75 wins.

The Lynx kick off the regular season on Friday night at 7:05 pm against the South Carolina Stingrays!
