Phoenix RoadRunners News Release
PHOENIX, Ariz. - Phoenix RoadRunners President Claude Lemieux will come out of retirement for one evening and lace up the skates as he participates in the club's inaugural "Blue-White" Game at 6:30PM tonight at the Alltel Ice Den in North Scottsdale.
General admission is $5 and fans will receive a free RoadRunners T-shirt with the purchase of a ticket.
Lemieux, 39, enjoyed an 18-year NHL career and earned a reputation as one of the league's best playoff performers while winning four Stanley Cup championships as a member of the Montreal Canadiens (1986), New Jersey Devils (1995, 2000) and the Colorado Avalanche (1996). In December of 2000, the veteran forward nicknamed "Pepe" signed with the Phoenix Coyotes as an unrestricted free agent where he spent two-plus seasons before being traded to the Dallas Stars in 2002-03, his final NHL season. He finished his career ranked eighth on the NHL's all-time list with 80 career playoff goals.
On February 1, Lemieux and Phoenix Suns majority owner Robert Sarver unveiled the return of the RoadRunners to America West Arena beginning in October.
Following tonight's game, all RoadRunners players and coaches will sign autographs and take pictures.
All RoadRunners ticket packages for the 2005-06 season will be on sale at the Alltel Ice Den including season, half-season, nine-game packages, and flex plans. RoadRunners merchandise will also be available for purchase.
Tickets can be purchased by calling Ticketmaster at (480) 784-4444 or online at Ticketmaster.com. A limited number of tickets will also be available at the Alltel Ice Den.
The Alltel Ice Den is located at 9375 East Bell Road in North Scottsdale.
The Phoenix RoadRunners make their way back to the ice at 6PM on Friday, October 21 as they battle the Utah Grizzlies at the E-Center in West Valley City, Utah. Catch all the action and every game in 2005-06 on KFNX News-Talk Radio 1100AM.
