Alaska Aces News Release

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - The Alaska Aces placed defensemen Zack Fitzgerald and forwards Kimbi Daniels and John-Scott Dickson on injured reserve on their final roster submitted for the ECHL deadline at 3:00 p.m. EST, then added forward Konstantin Zakharov late this afternoon.

Daniels underwent shoulder surgery today and could miss up to five months, leading to his placement on the 30-day injured reserve list. Fitzgerald and Dickson will go on the seven-day IR and miss the season-opening series against San Diego, which begins Friday at 7:15 p.m. on GCI Magnetic Schedule Night at Sullivan Arena. The three-game set continues Saturday at 2:05 p.m. with KeyBank Autograph Book Day and wraps up with a special edition of "Monday Night Hockey" at the Sully, with the face-off scheduled for 7:15 p.m.

The 6-1, 200-pound Zakharov, a native of Minsk, Belarus, will practice with the team tomorrow and could be in the lineup Friday. He will suit up for the Aces under a National Hockey League contract with the St. Louis Blues, who selected him in the third round of the 2003 draft. The 20-year-old Zakharov scored four goals and assisted on 10 others in 59 games as a rookie with Worcester in the AHL last year. He gained notice by scoring 33 goals in only 55 games during the 2003-04 regular season for Moncton (QMJHL), then added seven goals and nine assists in 20 playoff contests.

For the 10th consecutive year, KFQD 750 AM will broadcast all Alaska Aces games, with the live feed also available at www.alaskaaces.com or www.kfqd.com. B2 Networks offers a live video webcast of all Aces games excluding those at Victoria and Long Beach. Those games can be seen on a pay-per-view basis at www.alaskaaces.com.
