Lynx set home win streak with 3-1 victory over Texas
March 13, 2005 - ECHL (ECHL)
Augusta Lynx News Release
Matt Dzieduszycki's two goals, including a shorthanded game winner, led the Augusta Lynx past the Texas Wildcatters 3-1 on Sunday afternoon at the Augusta-Richmond County Civic Center.
Dzieduszycki opened the scoring for the Lynx at 6:23 of the first period from Jamie Johnson and Matus Kostur. Kostur fed the puck up ice to Johnson while Texas was in the process of changing lines, and Johnson fed Dzieduszycki on the left wing for the goal and a 1-0 lead after 20 minutes of play.
No scoring in the second period led to Texas tying the game at 5:55 of the third, with Eric Sonnenberg scoring on a Ryan Fultz feed from behind the Augusta goal to make it a 1-1 contest. But while down a man at 11:35 in the third period, the Lynx struck for a shorthanded marker from Dzieduszycki for a 2-1 lead. As Texas pressed to tie the game once more, Eric Johansson stole the puck from a Wildcatter defender late in the third to ice the game at 18:16, depositing a deke behind Davis Parley for a 3-1 final.
Kostur picked up his second straight victory with 35 saves, while Parley turned aside 46 Lynx attempts in coming out with the loss.
Of note for the Lynx, the win set a new team mark for consecutive home victories at eight, besting the old mark set from 11/25/98 to 12/18/98 in which the team won seven straight at the Augusta-Richmond County Civic Center.
The same two teams are back in action Tuesday night at 7:05 pm, with the pre-game show starting at 6:35 pm on your Home for Lynx Hockey, NEWSTALKSPORTS 1630. Seats are on sale now for all remaining Lynx home games through the team office at (706) 724-4ICE, through all TicketMaster locations, or on line at www.TicketMaster.com.
