Bakersfield Condors News Release

Fresno, Calif. - Yutaka Fukufuji stopped 33 shots for his seventh straight win as the Bakersfield Condors defeated the Fresno Falcons 4-1 at the Save Mart Center on Sunday night.

The Condors came out strong in the first, taking the 1-0 lead just 8:36 into the game. Mathieu Brunelle chipped in his own rebound for his 21st of the season and seventh goal in seven games with the Condors. Bakersfield had the advantage in shots 17-11.

Brett Lutes extended the lead just over a minute into the second frame. Preparing to head off on a line change, the Condors rookie just blasted a slapper from the neutral zone toward G Jaime Hodson and it trickled through his legs to make it 2-0. Lars-Peder Nagel batted in a rebound out of midair just four minutes later to make it 3-0.

Brad Mehalko's end-to-end rush in the third period yielded the fourth goal of the game for the Condors, and gave Mehalko 19 tallies on the season. Fukufuji's bid for a fourth shutout was denied with just over five minutes left on the clock with David Brisson's 15th goal of the season.

The Condors play Tuesday night in Las Vegas at 7:00 p.m. and then return to host the Alaska Aces on Friday, March 18th and Saturday, March 19th. On the 18th, the Condors will honor the 25th anniversary of the "Miracle on Ice" by wearing replica 1980 USA jerseys from those fateful Winter Games. As with all jersey raffle and auctions, five of the game-worn jerseys will be raffled off throughout the night and the rest will be auctioned off after the game to raise money for the Petroleum Shrine Club, sponsored by KGET-TV 17, The Big 96.5 and American Business Machines. On the 19th, 106.1 KRAB Radio presents the Oakland Raiderettes, performing during intermissions and greeting fans.
