Augusta Lynx News Release

The ECHL's best home power play produced three power play goals to pace the Augusta Lynx to a 4-2 win over the Greenville Grrrowl at the Augusta-Richmond County Civic Center on Saturday night.

Sean Connolly kicked off the scoring by cashing in the rebound from a Colt King shot at 14:24 to make it 1-0 Augusta. Ken Magowan followed by banking a cross-ice pass in off a Greenville defender during a five-on-three advantage for Augusta's second power play goal. Eric Johansson and Louis Goulet tacked on the assists at 19:01 for a 2-0 Lynx advantage at the first intermission.

Brian Passmore extended the Lynx lead to 3-0 by stepping past a Grrrowl defender and surprising goaltender Jeff Deslauriers with a quick shot low to the stick side. Goulet and Doug Wright added the helpers at 11:42 of the second stanza.

Greenville did not give up on the game, however, and came back with goals from Maris Ziedins and Sam Paolini to make it 3-2 through 40 minutes of play, and give the Grrrowl life heading to the third.

Once again, the Lynx power play would rear its powerful head to cap the scoring on a Dan Sullivan goal at 6:32 from Joe Markusen and John Cronin for a 4-2 final. The Grrrowl would pull Deslauriers in the waning moments of the contest during a power play for a six-on-four advantage, but they could not score on the Lynx and Matus Kostur, who earned the win with 34 saves.

Augusta will get back to action Sunday against the Texas Wildcatters at 4:05 pm, the first ever contest in Augusta for the team. Tickets are on sale now through the Lynx office at (706) 724-4ICE, all TicketMaster locations, or on line at www.TicketMaster.com.
