The Augusta Lynx scored four power play goals while Dan Sullivan recorded a Gordie Howe hat trick with two goals in a 6-4 defeat of the Greenville Grrrowl on Friday night.

Sullivan opened the scoring with a power play goal at 9:16 of the first period with some nifty tic-tac-toe passing from Brian Passmore and Ryan Lang to make it 1-0 Lynx. Greenville (11-8-1) came back, scoring twice to take a 2- 1edge into the first period intermission.

The Grrrowl attempted to seize control of the game on a Cody Blanshan goal just 1:02 into the second period, but Augusta (10-10-2) found a way to come back and tie the game. Paul Kelly scored a shorthanded marker from Chris Leinweber at 10:13, followed by a Joel Stepp power play marker to make it 3-3 at 12:09 from Sullivan and Nicolas Corbeil after two periods of play.

The back-and-forth action continued in the third period, with the Lynx regaining the lead on Sullivan's second goal of the game from Stepp and Corbeil just 1:21 into the final frame. Back came the Grrrowl to tie things up on a Rory McMahon goal at 3:32, but Martin Lapointe's power play goal moved Augusta in front 5-4 at 13:10 from Stepp and B.J. Gaustad.

Facing the league's best road power play, the Lynx managed to kill off two late penalties and finally Corbeil scored on a 2-on-1 with Lang, firing the puck into an empty net for the Lynx' fourth and final power play goal of the game.

Mike Wall played well in net for Augusta, stopping 25 shots to earn his second win of the year. Mike Brodeur managed 12 saves for the Grrrowl in the loss. Augusta finished 4-for-6 on the power play while Greenville went 0-for-5.

The Lynx are back in action Saturday night against the Everblades in Florida. Faceoff is scheduled for 7:30 pm, with the Classic Stucco and Stone Pre-Game Show starting one half-hour before faceoff on your Home for Lynx Hockey, NEWSTALKSPORTS 1630.
