Fresno Falcons News Release
FRESNO, Calif. - The American Hockey League's Cleveland Barons loaned rookie goaltender Jamie Holden to the Fresno Falcons on Thursday but were forced to re-call him today after Barons goaltender Dimitri Patzold went down to injury.
Yesterday Holden traveled the 4,000 miles from Cleveland to Anchorage, Alaska, where the Falcons are playing a three-game set against the Alaska Aces this week. This morning he participated in Fresno's pre-game morning skate before traveling Cleveland.
Holden, who played the past four seasons at Quinnipiac University and is signed to an AHL contract with the Barons, made his professional debut on Oct. 22 and back-stopped the Falcons to a 4-3 victory against the Stockton Thunder. After the game he was re-called back to Cleveland, where he went 5-5-0 with a 3.26 goals against average and .900 save percentage.
Holden won the AHL's Player of the Week Award during the first week of November when he compiled a 3-0-0 mark with a 1.62 goals against average and .952 save percentage, part of a string of five straight victories to establish a new Barons franchise record for most consecutive wins by a goaltender.
The Falcons and Aces square-off for the third game in a row tonight at Sullivan Arena in Anchorage. The game may be viewed live on a pay-per-view basis on-line courtesy of B2 Networks, which can be accessed via the Falcons' website at www.fresnofalcons.com. The radio broadcast will be tape delayed beginning at approximately 10 p.m. on 1550 Sporting News Radio.
