Chiefs Fight Road Legs

The Johnstown Chiefs had a bad case of road legs, falling to the first place Reading Royals, 7-2.

The Royals jumped out to a 2-0 lead on goals by Greg Hogeboom and T.J. Kemp, but the Chiefs battled back. J.B. Bittner deflected a Brady Greco slapshot past Royals goalie, Brad Brust, at 5:04 of the first period.

The Chiefs would keep it close, but were never able to pull even. The Royals scored the game winner, 25 seconds into the 2nd period with slick passing down low. Malcom MacMillan slid a pass across the slot, and Grant Jacobson buried the pass for his 2nd goal of the year.

The Chiefs again battled back to a goal down, as Dmitri Tarabrin and Justin Kelly created a 2-1. Tarabrin easily converted the pass from Kelly for his second of the year.

From there, it was all Reading, as they scored four unanswered goals, including three in the third period.

Tomorrow night the Chiefs face the last place Dayton Bombers on Stuffed Toy Toss night. The Chiefs and Cool 101.7 invite all fans to toss stuffed toys onto the ice following the Chiefs first goal. All toys will be donated to the Marine Corps and Toys for Tots. Get tickets by calling 814-536-5156.
