Lynx Score Five Unanswered to Earn Win

ELMIRA, NY − Justin Keller scored two goals and Joel Martin made 31 saves in his return to Elmira as the Lynx (2-2-1) rolled off five consecutive goals en route to a 5-3 victory over the Jackals at First Arena on Saturday night.

Keller tied the game just a minute into the third period with a shorthanded goal and Kevin Quick blasted a shot past Elmira goaltender Ryan Nie for his first pro goal to give the Lynx the lead for good in the third period. Patrick Bordeleau and Dallas Steward also scored for Augusta in the win.

Elmira gained a 3-0 lead midway through the game as Steve Yetman sandwiched a goal between two tallies from Moises Guiterrez. Augusta scored on the ensuing power play after trailing by three as Bordeleau redirected a Quick shot to put the Lynx on the board. Keller followed with a goal with 1:30 left in the second period to cut the Elmira lead to one.

Keller opened the third with his second goal of the game and his third in the last two contests. Quick put Augusta ahead at 7:47 and Steward gave the Lynx some insurance with his first of the season.

Joel Martin made some key saves down the stretch to help the Lynx even their record at 2-2-1. Elmira out shot Augusta 34-28. The Lynx finished 1 for 7 on the power play while Elmira went 1 for 8.

The Lynx conclude the Northern swing in Reading, PA against the Royals on Sunday at 5:05 p.m.

The Lynx return to James Brown Arena on Friday, November 7 to take on the Charlotte Checkers at 7:30 p.m. for Support the Troops and NASCAR Night.
