ST. PAUL, MN - The Saints were down to four starters after Dallas Keuchel had his contract selected by the Minnesota Twins. They have found the solution as the Twins promoted right-handed pitcher Carlos Luna from Double-A Wichita to St. Paul.

Luna, 26, pitched in 19 games with the Wind Surge, making 15 starts. He owned a 1-7 record and a 5.54 ERA, allowing 47 earned runs in a team-high 76.1 innings. He recorded three appearances this season with at least seven strikeouts, led by a season-high 10 in his first start of the year on April 11. His 81 strikeouts were the second-most on the roster.

The Las Tablas, Panama native was selected to play with Team Panama in the 2023 World Baseball Classic, but did not pitch in a game.

Prior to his time with the Wind Surge, Luna played his seven prior seasons with the Milwaukee Brewers organization. He spent all of 2022 with Double-A Biloxi, going 5-6 with a 5.35 ERA. He struck out a career-high 111 batters in 109.1 innings. The 109.1 innings were the seventh-most in the Southern League and the 111 strikeouts were tied for the 10th-most in the league.

Luna was named the 2019 Pioneer League Pitcher of the Year with the Rocky Mountain Vibes, going 3-4 with a 3.58 ERA in 14 starts, striking out 70 and walking just 10.

In 2013, Luna was signed as an International Free Agent by the Brewers out of Panama.

Luna will take the roster spot of right-handed pitcher Cole Sands who was recalled by the Minnesota Twins.

The Saints roster now consists of the league maximum 28 players, with 14 pitchers and 14 position players.
